Dear Students:

Welcome to Algebra I! I look forward to working with you and getting to know you during our time together. To help ensure your success in this course, let me inform you of the following:

 

Supplies:

1.  Three Ring Binder–1 inch, with loose-leaf paper ‘or’ 2 section spiral notebook with pockets and perforated pages  

2.  Pencils/Eraser                                               4.   Highlighter                    6.   Textbook                 

3.  Scientific Calculator:                                     5.   Laptop/Tablet

Basic Rules:

1.   Be on time to class and ready to begin when the bell rings.

2.   Bring all materials to class daily.

3.   No electronic devices other than what we are using for the lesson are permitted during class.  

           

Attendance:

Daily attendance is a critical part of success in this class. Math is a spiral subject, where what you learn in one class, will be based on something you learned previously. In the case of an absence, the daily agenda will be posted on Schoology. It is the responsibility of the student to request any materials missed. Make-up work is due no later than the second class meeting from the date of return to class. 

 

Grading Policy:

90-100......................A.................3.50 - 4.00

80-89........................B.................2.50 - 3.49

70-79........................C.................1.50 - 2.49

60-69........................D.................1.00 - 1.49

<59.......................... .F...................99 and below

0............................... .Z..................NO WORK

 

*Tests…5 grades            

*Quizzes…2-3 grades           

*Classwork/Homework/Notebook… <1 

Tests: Cumulative chapter tests will be administered at the completion of each topic.

Quizzes: Quizzes will be administered, on average, 2 to 3 times a week.

             

                    **STUDENTS MUST SHOW ALL WORK TO RECEIVE CREDIT**

 

Classwork and Homelearning:  Classwork and homelearning are given DAILY. No late assignments are accepted for any reason other than a satisfactory absence.

  • Assignments will be announced in class and can be found daily on Schoology.

**Any student that is having trouble in class should meet with me as soon as possible so that ways to overcome the problem can be discussed.

 

All students enrolled in an Algebra I course are required to take the State of Florida: End-of-Course Exam. Students must pass this exam to satisfy the graduation requirement. The exam is administered toward the end of the school year, usually in the month of May.
